I was listening to the radio the other day and these ladies were talking about the different kinds of friends a mom needs in her life. As I was listening to them, I was realizing that this should hold true to anyone.
So here is the list:
1. The "in the same boat" friend - this friend is the person who's life almost mirrors yours. And you talk about the sames ups and downs you both are having.
2. The "been there done that" friend - this is usually an older friend who has already gone through the phases you are going through.
3. The "party" friend - the friend that you can live vicariously through. The one person that you don't have to have a heavy conversation with.
4. The "glam" friend - the friend that will give you fashion and makeup advice. They always look good no matter what time of day you see them.
5. And my personal favorite....The "hide the body" friend - this friend is the one that when you are pissed off or if you are hurt by someone, they will offer to bring the shovel.
I would like to think that at one time I have been one of these friends to someone. Okay, maybe not the "glam" friend but the others. I treat my friends like I want to be treated. Many times my friendship has been taken advantage of but I wouldn't take back anything I have done for that friend.
Friends are so important. They come and go in your life for a reason. Some are there to teach you lessons and then some are just there to give you that support that you need at the time. Then there are the one's that stay around for a lifetime.
So to all my friends....I love you and appreciate all you have done for me.. <3
Blessings,
Ana

Interesting. I think the best would be having all of those wrapped into one person....I don't play well with lots of people in the sandbox.
hehe That's funny since my best friend from childhood is all these in one :D
Great post and so true! I am married with no children and I don't know what I would do without my friends (probably be bored to tears).
Blessed Be!

Friendship can be taken advantage of so easily. It's sad, but true. Though a perfect world would have all of us celebrating the friendships of all of the above types, we should only be so luckily to have even one of those sisters/brothers around. Even though I only know you through your blog, I am happy to say that you are definitely a "thick and thin" type of friend. *^_^*
Great list. Everyone, no matter their age, needs friends like those listed. But I agree with Dark Mother, I need my 'friends' rolled into one person. :0)
It is rue that there are many types of friends. I think we should consider ourselves lucky if we even have one good and true friend that we can really count on. I have burned too many times by people claiming to be my friend, so I am very untrustworthy of people now, which is sad, but thats the way it is.
